Convocation Hall

Constructed in 1907 by the architectural firm Pearson and Darling for the University of Toronto, Convocation Hall is the largest venue on the St. George Campus. It is home to academic lectures, Convocation ceremonies, and events.

Description:

The Campus Events team offers comprehensive support during the planning process and on event day, taking into account your unique event needs. Our team of event professionals will ensure you and your guests have a seamless event experience.

  • Capacity: 1,731– subject to decrease based on A/V requirements.
  • The Hall is a historic building and does not have elevators. The main rotunda floor is at grade; the main Hall tiers and all balconies are accessible by stairs only. 
  • There is a greenroom located below the Hall; it is only accessible via stairs. 
  • The Hall includes: Two built-in projectors; podium with microphone. 
  • All necessary staffing will be provided by the in-house AV and Ambassador team.  
  • Audio Visual services are provided by Learning Space Management; AV technician(s) are required for every event. 
  • Livestreaming and recording services are available. 
  • As Convocation Hall is a historic building, the taping of posters or affixing material to the walls or furniture is prohibited.

Accessibility Information

  • Accessible entrance located on Galbraith Road (southside of the Hall) via a ramp with railings.
  • Two accessible washrooms, both located on the main floor of the Hall.
  • Stage is accessible on both sides via ramps with railings.
  • The Campus Events team will provide advice on other best practices for making your event more accessible and inclusive.

How to get to Convocation Hall

By Walking

Start by heading towards Kings College Road. Convocation Hall is located at Kings College Road & Galbraith Road. 

By TTC

There are three TTC Subway stations within walking distance of Convocation Hall: Queens Park Station (Line 1), St. George Station (Line 2), Museum Station (Line 1).  

By Go Transit

Take the Go Train to Union Station. From there, head to the TTC Union Station platform and take a northbound train towards Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (Line 1). Ride three stops to Queen’s Park Station.

Parking

Public parking is available in the area and U of T’s parking lots are listed on the Transportation Services website.
